Through a blend of classroom instruction and adventure education, Experiential Teachers instruct a core subject 3-4 days per week as well as assist with weekly adventure/experiential trip and high-end adventure trips throughout the school year. Adventure Specialists work with program staff to develop and execute an adventure education curriculum and teaches basic to advanced level skills in one or more core adventure disciplines (rock climbing, canoe/kayak, mountain biking) through a combination of classroom instruction and experiential trips. Compensation starts at $40,000/year plus a comprehensive benefits package and a fun and engaging work environment with opportunities for growth.

Frost Valley YMCA is a camp, retreat destination, and environmental education center offering people of all ages and abilities enriching outdoor experiences, adventure, growth, and fun. Adventure Trip Leaders along with a co-leader supervise and care for campers as they engage in service elements and/or backpack, climb, hike, kayak, canoe, whitewater raft and sail throughout natural spaces over a two-week period. Adventure Trip Logistics Coordinators assist in creating a successful pack-out, return and safety of all off-site overnight trips, mentor trip leaders, directly oversee the food and/or gear room, and keep the Trip Center in outstanding running condition. Adventure Village Counselors oversee camper day-to-day needs and provide safe, fun entertainment and wholesome activities. Compensation ranges from $475-$650/week plus room, board, and the opportunity to explore the Northeast.

Elements Wilderness Program works with assigned male at birth adolescents (13-17 years of age) and young adults of both genders (18+) who are struggling to lives their lives in healthy, productive ways. From the initial training onward, Field Mentors are given the skills they need to utilize the wilderness, meaningful relationships, and evidence-based treatment models in effective and engaging ways. While in the field, Mentors teach outdoor living skills, facilitate adventure activities like climbing, rappelling, fly fishing, stand-up paddle boarding, low ropes initiatives, and mountain biking. Field Mentors also run therapeutic groups, check in with clients 1-on-1, practice mindfulness and other Dialectical Behavioral Therapy skills, and generally role-model what it means to be a healthy adult. Mentors work 8-days-on followed by 6-days-off, giving you almost 150 days off a year! Compensation starts at $175/day, with the opportunity to move up to $240/day and up to $1,100 in other bonuses within the first year.

Nestled in the in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Western North Carolina, Momentum is an outdoor adventure therapy program designed exclusively for struggling young adults ready to discover the best versions of themselves. Field Instructorsplay an integral role in this process, mentoring students as they engage in various program elements such as group backpacking trips in the mountains, adventure expeditions (rock climbing, canoeing, whitewater rafting, mountain biking, fishing and paddle boarding), base camp activities (equine care, culinary skills, gardening, service learning and college courses), yoga and mindfulness practice to manage the distractions of every-day life, and classrooms that reignite a love of learning through hands-on fun. Compensation includes $2,400-$2,850 per shift, PTO for Lead Instructors, $1,000/year for trainings, and health insurance coverage after 30 days.

Now seeking Field Instructors who will lead groups in multi-day hiking expeditions and outings that combine an academic curriculum, primitive living and outdoor skills, volunteer work and adventure.
